Pterodactyl? No, It's an American White Pelican. One of the largest North American birds, the white pelican heads to inland lakes like Barr Lake near Denver in the Spring and Summer.

Red-winged Scouting

This male Red-winged Blackbird was perched and hunting for his next meal at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, Co. The Red-winged Blackbird may be the most abundant land bird living today. Flocks sometimes reach more than a million birds.

Locking Antlers

Two bull elk locking antlers during the fall rut (mating season) in Rocky Mountain National Park. These two looked more like they were practicing than actually battling. The alpha male in this herd had his harem secured nearby. He was not concerned with this fight between these younger rivals.

Moose in the grass

Moose hiding in the grass. I had the chance to hang out (from a distance) with a couple of these amazing creatures.

Elk Morning

Early morning trip to Rocky Mountain National Park turned out amazing. We saw two Elk off Trail Ridge Rd and stopped to watch these regal creatures. After just a few minutes, more came up the hill. The immense size of these animals is amazing. I could have spent all day with these guys.
